  1. Dr. B., This has taken me alot of nerve to speak with some one about my isues with my teeth. I have kept my mouth shut about it for many years..........literally. I am a 38 year old man who will admit, My teeth are awful. So awful I will not show them, I wont smile, open mouthed and I guess I seem like I have a chip on my shoulders to most epople because I wont smile. That is not who I am or who I want to be concieved as. My wife has cancer,sjogren's,R.A and other major illnesses that prevent me from being able to just pick a dentist and go get my teeth fixed. Her health is far worse off than mine and i feel like I should not complain because I have a tooth ache, everyday. I havent been able to afford to even go to the doctor my self to have my chest ,arm, shoudler looked at. I am 5;10, weigh 168 and other than having chest pain and shoudler pain I am in good health. MY teeth are brown,yellow, and even black. Some are broke and they look just awful. The first thought when people would see my teeth would be I am " a crack head".........but I can assure, I am not!!!! I have never used, been near, or know what it looks like. I am very anti crack, meth, ..ect. BUt if I was looking at myself thru someone else's eyes, that is what I would assume. "He is a crack head"....... I have always been very good with keeping my teeth cleaned, brushing, flossing ect.... BUt I have not been able to even get my teeth cleaned in years.........I was a supervisor for 5 years and had great insurance including dental (I paid for). My teeth are so awful I had all of my lower removed and was planning on having my upper removed when my wife was diagnosed with cancer which made me have to take more time off of work ( taking her to Vanderbilt Bone marrow transplant doc in Nashville and oncologist appointments ect.... Hence I lost my job due to what they felt would be a problem with my wife being sick. I guess I sound like a pity party and that is not what I am trying to come across as. I am asking where can I go for help. Today is another day I have been living with so much pain from my teeth ( which has moved into my shoulder and chest stemming from my jaw). I need these teeth pulled. I cant live any longer with this pain that I have had for 3 years on and off and for now 2 months straight. I am not a weak man, but I have been crying at night, during the day and hiding it from my 2 children and wife until recently when I just cant stand it any more. I am ready to pull them my self. Pliers and wrench, whatever it takes. 8 teeth can break a strong man and make them weak. Is there any place I can go for help or even make payments with. Do you know of any dentist in East ,TN willing to work with me on a payment plan or a clinic or any where. I wont go to the hospital ER which is what every one tells me to do, because I know they will take one look at my teeth and think I am so awful person. Everyone says at least go get some thing for the pain. BUt I dont want some thing for the pain, I want the pain and problems with ht eteeth to go away for good. I am great person, and want to enjoy my life, smile at my kids, laugh with them.......... I dont want my children and wife to think that I am some cold uncaring person because I never smile.     10-07-2007 - Clay, Wow. You and your family sure have been going through difficult times. There are so many people who are in dental pain and desperately need dental treatment. In Knoxville there are a couple places that may be able to help you. The Interfaith Dental Clinic and the Knox county health department(dental clinic). UT Hospital also has a dental clinic with dentists who are in a general practice residency program. I don't know the protocol as to how each of these three clinics treat patients, or how they choose the patients that they see. If I were you I would certainly follow up with a phone call to each of them and ask for help. If you run into a dead end e-mail me back and I will call each of these clinics myself to follow up. Don't give up! You will have a beautiful smile one of these days... if you really want to (and it certainly sounds that way in your e-mail.)   2. Would like to know who you consider is the best or who has the best results in the Knoxville area as far as TMJ, and doing pretty caps on all teeth. I have been told by another dentist that there is no one good here. If that is true then where would you suggest going to? He suggested a dentist in Nashville.     10-07-2007 - J.Disney, You were told by another dentist that there was "no one good here" in the Knoxville area who gets good results treating patients who have TMJ problems and "doing pretty caps." I would respectfully suggest to you that there are a good number of dentists in the Knoxville/east Tn area who have successfully treated patients with TMJ concerns and placing beautiful crowns that look like natural teeth. If you are looking for a dentist in Nashville who has limited his or her dental practice to those patients who have TMJ issues, then I would do a "google search" and see what you find. If you call my office, my receptionist should be able to tell you the "four questions" all patients should ask when selecting a dentist for you or your family. Then pick up the phone and start calling. Do your homework and see if Knoxville has any "good" dentists. I would be interested in what you find out. You can e-mail me at this website and let me know. Doctor, I am a very desperate WWII vet who has given up trying to get a couple of dentures so that I can once more enjoy eating My wife and I are on social sec and have all to get by I have pleaded my case over and over through out the years but to no avail my old dentures fall out when eating Is there any thing you could do for me im 81 yrs old any suggestions thank you and God bless. - Bill from Crossville, TN

    10-10-2007 - Bill, Call the V.A. in Nashville or Johnson City. They will make your dentures for you free...I think. I have had many Veterans over the years and they have been able to have dental work done. I'm not sure about who qualifies or the number of "hoops" that you may have to jump through, but it certainly is worth a try. I hope this helps. Dr.B:)   « less

My financial coordinator even has some good suggestions about a dental insurance policy that you may be interested. It's very affordable and we have had patients who are really pleased.
