    It really depends on how old you are. We like to set people up like this if you are over 40 and are starting to need reading glasses. It is called "monoviison" and it helps you become less dependent on glasses all together. If you are over 40 and have both eyes fixed for distance vision; you will need reading glasses for everything up close. It's the price of getting older. Hope this helps. Colby Stewart, MD   « less

  6. I am a 59 y.o. female and had an eye exam to see if I was appropriate for Lasix surgery; worn glasses (bifocal) for 25+ years. Exam showed "early cataract" right eye and was told therefore, not a candidate...Why? (this is second time I have written this column.     If I understand your question correctly, you were told you were not a candidate for LASIK surgery due to a cataract in your right eye. Cataracts at some point require cataract surgery. They also can cause changes in your eye glass prescription. LASIK surgery is best for people who do not have cataracts.    « less
  7. I have typr 2 diabetic. Is lasik surgery a possibility. I went for a consultation at TLC in Torrance CA. They said I am a candidate did scans asked question on my diabetis sais I have stignatism worst on my left but should be fine.   8. Would I be a canidate for lasik? The vision in my left eye is 20/400, lazy eye from birth. Up until a few years ago, my rt eye was 20/15 (exceptional) it is now at 20/100 with a stigmatisim. Should I take a chance on Lasik for my rt eye with having such poor vision in my left.
