  4. 6 months ago I ordered a sofa from lazy boy through Kemper Furniture. I was told it would take 6-8 weeks but it turned into 12. It was totally wrapped in plastic and I didn't unwrap it until I got home because it had been raining. after getting it set up ( it is a 3ps.sofa) I discovered that the middle piece was a different shade of red. I called the store and they sent someone to make pictures and they agreed that it was the companies fault and agreed to get them to remake the center piece. they would'nt make the intire sofa because it had since been discontinued.this was suppose to take 2-4wks but turned into 9. when it finally come it to was 2 different shades and had 3 holes in it and staples showing and the seams were crooked and there was a 2-3 in gap between two of the pieces that you could'nt get closed and it was 2 in. shorter than the two side pieces. I have asked for my money back but the store insist lazy boy does not give refunds. they did offer me an instore credit and this would be fine except they offer no other sofas this style. I had looked for months to find a sofa like this because I have a very large room and it was 156" long and would have been perfect. I don't see why I should have to settle for something I dont want because of their mistake. Even though I ordered it should'nt lazy boy have to hold up to some standard for their product. Why should I have to be the one to lose? thank you sherita murphy - sherita murphy from jamestown, Ky

After investigating Kemper furniture, they claim to be a family business which has one of the top Lazy-boy galleries in the country. To make that claim you have to have service to back that up. (These are quotes from their website) "At Kemper Furniture, located at 165 Kemper Dr., Hazard, KY, customer satisfaction is our number one priority". "The Kemper family is an important part of their community, and is well respected. They enjoy being able to give back to loyal customers that have given so much to them over the years". I can't imagine based on what your telling me they couldn't get credit from lazyboy for defective furniture. Lazyboy would be the only company in the country with this policy. Maybe you need to send a copy of the book "Hug your Customers" by Jack Mitchell to Lazyboy corporate. No one should be forced to buy something that doesn't meet their expectations or is defective. In these difficult times, or any time, it should be a stores priority to make sure the customer has a postive shopping experience with their hard earned money. Everyone knows in this business that a satisfied customer will tell 10 to 15 people of their buying experience, but a unhappy customer will tell 25 to 30 people, that can really affect a business. It seems the Kemper family has a good reputation and I'm sure if you talk to the right person they would rectify the problem. has a positve shopping experience   « less

Don't worry--with a little bit of elbow grease you should be able to eliminate that cigarette smell pretty quickly. Here are a few suggestions to eliminate the odor Nicotine (tobacco) is acid & needs an alkaline based cleaner. Based on that fact here are some steps to follow: Step 1 Know that one of the best neutralizers of odor is vinegar. Put some white vinegar in a spray bottle, and lightly spritz it on the wood's surface. Wipe off excess liquid with a soft cloth to avoid staining. Step 2 Keep in mind that if you have a cabinet or drawer that has retained cigarette odor, baking soda can help with removing the smell. Place a bowl of baking soda inside the drawer or cabinet, and then close it up for a few days. The baking soda will absorb much of the odor. If you don't have baking soda, you can use ground coffee in the same way. Step 3 Understand that lemon oil is also a great tool for eliminating smoky smells. If the furniture doesn’t have a buildup of nicotine on it, try wiping it down with Murphy's Oil Soap, in the lemon-scented version. This not only gets rid of the cigarette smell, it also leaves the furniture looking nice and smelling fresh. Step 4 Use witch hazel. This is an astringent which can be found in the pharmacy section of your grocery store. Mix ½ cup witch hazel with a few drops of liquid dish soap. Using a soft scrubbing pad, gently rub the mixture into the wood. To wipe off, use a warm, damp washcloth. This should neutralize the cigarette odor in your wooden furniture. Step 5 Finally, remember that some odors are caused not by the smoke itself, but by a nicotine residue. Nicotine is an acid, so to remove it you'll need an alkaline-based cleanser. Borax, baking soda and most laundry soaps are alkaline-based. Combine ½ tsp. of any of these with a quart of warm water, and spray it on the furniture. Wipe it off and follow it with a white vinegar rinse. If the smell is really strong, you may need to do more than one application. Good luck!    « less

It sounds to me that the leather you bought is a pigmented corrected leather which essentially the color is painted on the surface of the hide rather than analine dyed all the way through. This type of leather process is less costly and has a tendency to rub off or fade. Their are leather restoration companies that can recolor the seat and perfectly match the color, but probably will have the same problem again eventually. Call your dealer and see if the leather is still current and if they will replace the seat, it seems to me this is a factory defect. Leather should not rub out like this, especially from a company like Lane. If the place you bought this from has good service, they should help you out in this situation. In the future always ask what type of leather you are buying. The way you can tell if the leather is aniline dyed properly is to look at the back of the leather, if it is colored the same as the surface, then your leather color has been dyed all the way through the hide(unzip the seat cushions is the best way to see this)    « less

Your fabric cost to the supplier is usually around $10 a yard when bought in bulk, you could find out who the fabric mill is, and maybe get it cheaper, or check with another vendor such as berkline. They seem to all use alot of the same resources. This Microfiber is probably an imported fabric. You can also call around other Lane dealers to see if they will sell it cheaper, the going rate should be between $25 to $40.    « less
