The wines from Mendoza have been a category that has expolded onto the national scene over the past couple of years. The Malbec grape in particular has been very popular because the wine is medium bodied, smooth and enjoyable to drink now. Some styles of Malbec can be much more complex and fuller in body. There are several variables that go into determining the value of a bottle of wine, particularly one that is over 30 years old. Many people like to hold on to wine because of the old saying that wine gets better with time. But, there is a point in a wine's "life cycle" when it has reached it's peak and begins to fade. But my guess is that there will be very little fruit left.   « less

If you stop by the store, we can show you several options. But, for this response, try something soft and easy drinking like Lambrusco. There never seems to be a shortage of Californian Merlots or Cabs why the slow down on spanish wines and particularly the Granache's. Is it because the come from smaller winerys? Is there growing and maturity season of the grapes different in Spain? One in particular that was terrific was "Cote de Hayas"for the money especially and can't find a bottle anywhere in town .
