I particularly like their Shiraz, Rose, and Riesling. For the $10 price point, they are very consistent year end and year out. As you go up the quality ladder with their wines, you will not be disappointed. One vintage that has caused some irregular wwines has been the 2007 vintage. And, that has been across the board and not with just Yalumba. So, look for 2005, 2006 or 2008. « less

Recently I had a 1979 and 1981 California Cabernet. They both were drinking extremely well. Here's the kicker. How has the wine been stored all of these years. If well stored in a cellar, I'd say give it a go. If it has been exposed to room temps or higher through the years, your chances of the wine drinking well is less likely. Either way, it's hard to put a value you on without knowing the history. I'd say anywhere from $1 to $100! « less

- I studied abroad in Switzerland and while there became quite fond of Swiss wines. Now that I am back, I have noticed that Swiss wines are not very common (if they can be found at all) in the United States. It is my understanding that a large majority of Swiss wine is consumed in the country, thereby leaving very little for export. What wines would you recommend that would be similar to the types of reds and whites indigenous to Switzerland?

And since I have not tried them, I cannot recommend a substitute. I would imagine that the wines, because of the cool climate, would be crisp and have higher acidity. You might venture into the wines of Austria. Try a Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc and or Riesling. « less

- Al Wadecki

If properly cellared, it could be worth anywhere from $200 - $400 a bottle. If left at room temperature, it's value will be less. Maybe $100 - $200.If properly cellared, it could be worth anywhere from $200 - $400 a bottle. If left at room temperature, it's value will be less. Maybe $100 - $200.
- Thad, I enjoy red wine however in these economic times I'm finding that I would prefer to pay under $15 per bottle. It seems that in that price range many red wines, at least the ones that I have tried, have a bite and are not very smooth. I would prefer a smooth red wine. Do you have any suggestions on red wines under $15 that have a smooth finish to them. I'm not partial to any particular country. I'm willing to try other than the standard reds like syrah, merlot, etc. Thanks in advance for your assistance

One of my persoanl favorites is a non-vintage red blend from California called Marietta Old Vine Red. Not everyone carries it, but it is smooth. Also, look for good value reds from Australia, Argentina and Spain. Many of their reds fall under the $15 price range, and there are several to choose from. « less
