- I don't know where to continue on my search for local info on finding a product, although not medical except for my mental state. I love my five squares a day of Lindt swiss bittersweet fine dark chocolate 3.5oz bars which I have been able to buy in Knox area - I live in Gatlinburg for the last sixteen years. Lindt chocolate is sold everywhere now but NOT the plain bars that I want, which was the purest chocolate bars in the world before organic ones. It's like taking the Hersheys bars off the market. DO YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND LINDT BARS OR WHERE I CAN CONTINUE MY SEARCH? I bought my last ones in Pittsburgh PA in a Meat/specialities store. Food City sold them until a few months ago. Thank you, Cindy McCann

Manufacturers have been very slow to change formulations to make things lower in sodium. One of the complications is how much is "low"? Is it less than 480mg/serving? Less than 200mg/serving? If you rinse off canned vegetables you will get rid of about 40% of the sodium. As far as bread...you will have to look at all of the different types of bread and compare serving size and mg of sodium. « less

If you have diabetes you should have received education from a certified diabetes educator or registered dietitian on how to count carbohydrates. If your doctor did not mention this, check with your insurance company to see if it is covered and ask to be referred. Once you have a carbohydrate "budget" you look on the nutrition facts label at the serving size and then at how many carbohydrate grams there are per serving and stay within your budget. Other keys to managing your blood sugar are: medication, exercise and weight loss. Check with your local hospital or health department or go on-line to www.diabetes.org to find a diabetes support group and education program near you. « less
