Linda,
That question should be asked to your doctor but I believe I would start with wines with lower sulphites like wines from the Rhone Valley of France.

We have discovered a bottle of Mumm champagne that was given to someone in our family before 1907. Could it be valuable?

It could be valuable if it has been stored properly all of these years. If it has been stored on its side and in a cool, dark climate (58 degrees or so) then you might be lucky. The best thing to do is to contact Mumm directly via the internet or e-mail. I would start with the New York office. I do not have their number but I bet you could find it on the web. Good Luck!!

Why do we pay 20-30% more in Tennesee for the SAME bottle of wine than I do when I visit SC and SC has more TAX on that same bottle?

I just came back from Hilton Head and I had the opportunity to shop in two grocery stores and one retail shop on the island. The grocery store pricing was all over the board. I saw a J. Lohr cabernet that was five dollars higher than in my shop. On the otherhand, the small retail shop had access to importers that were not available in Tennessee. The bottom line is this.....Tennessee is a frnachise state where only one distributor carries J,. Lohr in my market. So, that distributor gets to set the price for the whole E.T. market. So if he wants to be honest and price accordingly, then it will be competitive with other states. If not, then it will not. Franchise laws were written in this state by the distributors many years ago.I know that South Carolina does not have a franchise law and maybe North Carolina as well.

We bought some boxed wine that an employee told us would last over a month. Beginning of week three, it is so strong and tasted terrible. What gives? Did we do something wrong?

Typically box wines will last three to four weeks when opened because of the air-tight bag. But, it may not always. If it had been exposed to heat, that can cause it to age much faster.
