I have a bottle of 1998 Dom Perignon. I put it in the regular fridge about 4 weeks ago (thinking we would have it that night, but didn't.) How long is too long to refrigerate the bottle before you...

06-21-2007 - Tammy, no worries. If it had been in the frig for 40 weeks, you might have a problem. But, four weeks is not long enough to create serious issues. If you want to save it for a special occasion down the line, then take it out and keep it on its side in a cool, dark place. If you want to enjoy it soon, leave it in the frig. It's a great bottle of champagne!

05-04-2007 - Ginny - Because of the smokiness of the ham (and sometimes bacon if it is included), my first thought is to serve a nice dry Rose, like the 2005 Protocolo Rose from Spain ($7.49 a bottle!) If you would like to serve a red, try a fruit-forward Syrah or Shiraz. A good value Shiraz is the 2005 Milton Park Shiraz ($9.99). If this is the first course of the meal, I would stick with a Rose. Let me know how it works out.

08-24-2007 - I would say roughly $150 - $200, IF the wine has been stored properly. If not, then you have issues like heat exposure and dried-out corks. THe bubbles could be gone. BUt, if properly cellared, then we're talking that $150 - $200 range.

05-29-2007 - Dennis, Perrier Jouet is famous for the hand painted bottle and glasses. They make a great gift for a wedding, holidays or other special occasions. The biggest question I must ask you is how has the champagne been stored? If stored in a "cellar-like" enviroment (meaning a cool, dark place with temperatures around a constant 60 degrees or so), then yes, I would say that the champagne would be very nice. But, if stored at room temperature, the life cycle speeds up considerably. So, if stored properly, then there could be some extra value to the gift set. If not stored properly, probably not. But, if you keep it, give it a try soon. It may turn out to spectactular!
