Thad, I enjoy red wine however in these economic times I'm finding that I would prefer to pay under $15 per bottle. It seems that in that price range many red wines, at least the ones that I have tried, have a bite and are not very smooth. I would prefer a smooth red wine. Do you have any suggestions on red wines under $15 that have a smooth finish to them. I'm not partial to any particular country. I'm willing to try other than the standard reds like syrah, merlot, etc. Thanks in advance for your assistance

In our business, the name of the game is the $10 - $15 range, and yes, there are good choices available. One of my persoanl favorites is a non-vintage red blend from California called Marietta Old Vine Red. Not everyone carries it, but it is smooth. Also, look for good value reds from Australia, Argentina and Spain. Many of their reds fall under the $15 price range, and there are several to choose from.
